Mitered Scarf
This directionally-knitted scarf is stunning, yet simple to execute. It can be made in any combination of yarns, at any gauge, until it is as large as you want it. Use two contrasting colors, gauges and/or textures, to show off the directional knitting.
Size: The model is 21” along the center diagonal, and 45” across the neck edge (excluding fringe).
Gauge: This scarf can be knit at any gauge. The model was knit at 14 sts = 4” in garter st.
Materials:
Yarn: Two novelty yarns (Yarn A and Yarn B) in contrasting color, gauge and/or texture. The model used a charcoal grey, bulky weight ribbon and a silver, fine weight cord.
Total yardage will depend on your gauge and desired finished size. The model used 160 yds of each yarn.
Needles: size 10-1/2 US (6.5 mm), or size appropriate to your yarn choice.
Extras: 4 stitch markers; 2 stitch holders or scrap yarn; tapestry needle.

Triangle Shawl
This shawl can be knit in any combination of yarns, at any gauge, until it is as large as you want it. Try playing with different needle sizes and yarn combinations until you get a nicely draping fabric.
Size: Can be knit to any size; the model is about 90” across the neck edge.
Gauge: Can be any gauge; the model is 16 sts = 4 inches, using US size 13 needles.
Materials:
Yarn: total yardage needed will depend on the gauge and finished size of your shawl. The model used about 300 yards each of two yarns, held together throughout: one strand of laceweight mohair + one strand of fine rayon slub yarn, with extra rayon for the fringe.
Needles: in a size appropriate to your yarn choice, to give an open, drapey fabric.
Crochet hook for fringing.
Two Lacy Scarves
These easy scarves are the perfect introduction to lace knitting. One has a single row repeated throughout; the other has a simple 4-row repeat. Either pattern can be made for warm or cool weather wear, depending on your yarn choice.
Size:
Length as desired; width depending on gauge.
Scarf 1 (dark green) is 74” long and 9” wide.
Scarf 2 (light green) is 60” long and 6½” wide.
Gauge is not critical; as long as you have the same needle size you should get similar results. Note that your gauge will change after your scarf is blocked.
Materials:
Scarf 1 (dark green) used approximately 125 yards of a bulky weight mohair and US size 13 needles (9 mm).
Scarf 2 (light green) used approximately 150 yds of a fine merino-Tencel blend yarn and US size 10.5 needles (6.5 mm)
